For years, our rural towns have lost population as youth migrate to urban areas.  At the same time, the U.S entered a golden age of business growth and personal prosperity. Americans created, invested and multiplied unprecedented wealth.  Real estate increased in value exponentially.  Over the next  50 years, this capital — a conservative estimate of $598 billion in Kansas — will change hands.

In Stafford County alone, this averages to over $5.5 million each year that is transferred from one generation to the next.  In many cases, that wealth – and support for communities – will leave the area forever.

But if just 5% of that were set aside in local endowments for our county it would add up to over $5.5 million by year 2028, and it would provide over  $275,000 in revenue each and every year for local community causes.

Counties with aging populations will find the transfer of wealth is expected to peak and then start to decline over the next generation.

This is a call to action before the opportunity decreases over time.
